Rwanda is counting down to an extraordinary milestone, poised to become the first African country to host the prestigious World Cycling Championship. The anticipated event is scheduled to take place from September 21 to September 28, 2025, in Kigali, promising global excitement and African pride.
Belgium has officially announced its squad of 40 cyclists who will represent the nation in various competitive categories during the championship:
Individual Time Trial:
- For men: Evenepoel, Ilan van Wilder, Florian Vermeersch.
- For women: Marthe Goossens.
Road Race:
- Men: Tiesj Benoot, Victor Campenaerts, Remco Evenepoel, Quinten Hermans, Xandro Meurisse, Cian Uijtdebroeks, Ilan van Wilder, Florian Vermeersch.
- Women: Justine Ghekiere, Marthe Goossens, Marieke Meert, Julie van de Velde, Margot Vanpachtenbeke.
Belgium is set to compete in additional categories, including junior cyclists, under-23 men, and under-23 women. Unfortunately, Lotte Kopecky, the two-time World Cycling Champion in the women's category, will not participate due to an injury.
With Belgium officially announcing its team, it joins the ranks of nations—including the United States, France, Australia, and New Zealand—that have already revealed their rosters, further heightening anticipation for Kigali 2025.
