Renowned artist Lionel Sentore launched his debut album “Uwangabiye” during an electrifying concert in Kigali, paying tribute to Louise Mushikiwabo with his song "Umukobwa w’Abeza." The event celebrated Rwandan traditional music, bringing together fans and iconic performers.

Lionel Sentore revealed in an exclusive interview with InyaRwanda that he hosted an extraordinary concert on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village (Camp Kigali). The event marked the official launch of his debut album titled “Uwangabiye.”

This concert was Lionel Sentore’s first major performance in Kigali after over 15 years in the music industry. It attracted a large audience and featured appearances by celebrated artists, including Ruti Joel, Jules Sentore, the Ishyaka ry’Intore troupe, Muyango Jean Marie, Cyusa Ibrahim, and surprise guests who joined Sentore on stage.

During the remarkable event, Sentore offered live performances of 12 songs from his album. He concluded the show with "Umukobwa w’Abeza", openly sharing its significance as a tribute to Louise Mushikiwabo. He stated, "'Umukobwa w'Abeza' is a song I wrote out of admiration. It celebrates the beauty of women, and I dedicate it to Louise Mushikiwabo."

The evening brought Sentore immense joy as he performed before esteemed leaders, underscoring that such recognition is both a "privilege and honor" for any artist.

Expressing gratitude to his supporters, Sentore reflected on the pivotal role Rwandans have played in his artistic journey. He shared, "Rwandans helped me reach this stage. They loved me, listened to my music, and cared for me. This concert reaffirmed how cultural music continues to thrive and gain appreciation."

The artist further highlighted the significance of sharing a stage with legendary performers like Muyango and Ben Kayiranga. He eloquently said, "These are the mentors we learned from, who guided us and trained us. Being able to join them on stage and perform their songs feels like harvesting the fruits of their lessons."

The concert unfolded in well-organized segments. In the first part, Sentore performed alongside the Ishyaka ry’Intore troupe. The second segment featured emotionally charged renditions of songs such as "Zarwaniye Inka" and "Uko yabyirutse". Sentore continued with heartfelt tracks including "Hobe", "Umwiza", "Teta", "Haguruka Ugende", and the standout "Umukobwa w’Abeza" dedicated to Mushikiwabo. Another highlight was "Imena", a powerful collaboration with legendary singer Cecile Kayirebwa.

Other captivating performances included "Uwangabiye," the album's title track, which resonated strongly with the audience. Jules Sentore gave a moving performance of "Mama Shenge," followed by Charles Uwizihiwe who sang "Nzataramana nande." Joined by Ruti Joel and Jules Sentore, the trio delighted the crowd with songs like "Nyaruguru," a widely popular hit.

Looking ahead, Lionel Sentore shared his plans to embark on international projects and assured his fans that his music would remain accessible via major streaming platforms.

Wrapping up the event, Sentore expressed heartfelt thanks to the media, his supporters, and everyone who made the concert an unforgettable milestone in his musical journey.
