This Friday, September 5, 2025, the Musanze District in Rwanda is the proud host of the iconic Gorilla Naming Ceremony, locally called "Kwita Izina." Held in Kinigi, this celebrated event will see 40 baby gorillas from 15 distinct families receive their names, symbolizing Rwanda's commitment to wildlife conservation.
The event, expected to attract over 10,000 attendees, brings together Rwandans from across the country, top government officials, international visitors, and conservation enthusiasts, among others.
Staying in line with tradition, renowned figures from various fields will name the baby gorillas. Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, prior to the official naming ceremony, the crowd will be treated to energizing musical performances from artists including Kivumbi King, Ariel Wayz, and other local talents.
