The visit took place on Friday, April 17, 2026, as the group joined Rwandans and the international community during the 32nd commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
During their tour, they were guided through the unique history of the area, particularly how the Genocide against the Tutsi was planned and executed with extreme brutality in Ntarama Sector and surrounding regions.
In an interview with InyaRwanda, the leader of Imanzi z’u Rwanda Troupe, Eric Mukiza, said that visiting the Genocide Memorial was an intentional effort to deepen their understanding of the history of he Genocide against the Tutsi.
“This memorial holds powerful evidence of how the genocide was carried out. We learned a lot about how it was planned and executed, and we have committed ourselves to being a force for good by standing against genocide denial and revisionism,” he said.
He further emphasized that as young people, they have a responsibility to preserve history and share it with others, playing a key role in combating genocide ideology.
He said: “We are committed to never tolerating, accepting, or supporting anyone who denies or trivializes the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. We will use social media and our artistic talents to continue building a Rwanda free from hatred and division".
This visit highlights the dedication of youth to learning from history and offers hope for a future built on truth, unity, and the resilience of the Rwandan people.
