KNC Inspires Rwandan Youth With Discipline and Motivation at "Meet Me Tonight"

KNC shared life-changing lessons at Gen-Z Comedy's "Meet Me Tonight" in Kigali, urging youth to embrace discipline, passion, and self-reliance in shaping their futures.

KNC shared his remarkable journey on Thursday, August 7, 2025, during the "Meet Me Tonight" event hosted by Gen-Z Comedy at Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village – Camp Kigali.

The insightful talk empowered the youth by fostering interaction with accomplished leaders and artists, aiming to build confidence and instill values essential for success.

KNC recounted his humble beginnings in the arts during his studies at Lycée de Kigali. He reflected on his first major event, featuring top artists like Tom Close, which laid the foundation for his passion and defined the direction of his life.

He recalled, “My first job revolved around the arts. Back when I was in Senior 5 at Lycée de Kigali, I organized an unforgettable concert where prominent performers like Tom Close graced the stage.”

Collaboration With Angelbert Mutabaruka and the Birth of “Rirarashe”

KNC revealed teaming up with Angelbert Mutabaruka in 2010, followed by their partnership in 2014 when he took over hosting duties from Anitha Pendo. Emphasizing mutual respect, he remarked that he views coworkers as partners, not subordinates.

“In 2010, we first met as he transitioned from the countryside. Our collaboration started after Anitha Pendo became a DJ. She left in 2014, marking the beginning of my partnership with Mutabaruka on a new show,” KNC stated.

He added that "Rirarashe," their collaborative show, was inspired by the belief in equal opportunities that surface when the sun rises.

“In my professional life, I consider Mutabaruka both a colleague and a peer. At work, we are governed by equal rules. Outside work, we uphold mutual respect in individual responsibilities. At the workplace, he is my equal,” remarked KNC.

KNC Holds a Personal Record: 17 Hours on Radio

Demonstrating his dedication to the media industry, KNC proudly unveiled the milestone of logging 17 continuous hours live on Flash FM without substitutions.

He said, “From 8 AM to 8:35 PM, I hosted Flash FM non-stop. Listeners called in, sang, and shared warm wishes. That period validated my abilities and underscored my passion for the job.”

He continued, “It’s my record—17 consecutive hours on the radio. Count from 8 AM until 8:35 PM the next day. I invested every minute live on Flash FM.”

Sharing a memorable moment, KNC added, “We received greetings, song requests, and enthusiastic calls. The last caller was Sindikubwabo from Ruhango, who dialed in at exactly 8:35 PM.”

Acknowledging symbolic tensions between artists and media professionals, KNC attributed challenges to subjective biases from journalists disliking certain songs or genre preferences.

“Lazy Journalists Are Hindering Progress”

Criticizing the modern media landscape, KNC lamented the waning diligence among contemporary journalists. He observed a tendency to avoid creating substantial, engaging programs.

“Today’s journalists are often lazy. Few are keen to prepare adequately. Everyone wants instant fame through ‘Showbiz’ or ‘Sports,’” he affirmed.

Gasogi United: Bridging Opportunities for Rwanda’s Youth

KNC shared the inspiration behind founding Gasogi United, a football club created to fill gaps in opportunities for young talents in Rwanda.

Announcing the club met with skepticism and criticism, with some questioning his ambition to the point where he thought, “Am I committing a crime?”

Despite doubters ridiculing the club’s chances of survival, KNC persevered, driven by a vision to make a lasting impact.

KNC Urges Youth: Take Action, Don’t Wait for Miracles

Addressing the audience, KNC emphasized the importance of discipline and motivation. He shared his routine of early mornings spent planning the future instead of staying idle.

He elaborated on his success foundation built on “Discipline” and “Motivation,” defining discipline as “making sacrifices to reach desired goals,” while motivation serves as the “fuel to pursue short-term goals. Discipline remains lifelong.”

“Discipline must be constant—it’s why I transformed my life through determination and focus.” KNC noted.

Reflecting on his career, KNC revealed he had never applied for jobs but earned them through competence. “My first job resulted from meeting Kamanzi and Kabera while organizing an event. Kamanzi asked if I could manage it—I confidently replied, ‘Yes!’”

“He immediately entrusted me with music production and planning radio shows. That moment marked my entry into radio. Today, I owe owning a station to Kamanzi, founder of Flash FM.”

KNC: “I Am Rwanda’s First Artist”

Proudly, KNC declared himself the pioneer performer in Rwanda’s music history, pointing to achievements others have yet to replicate.

“In Rwanda’s music scene, I am the first artist—no dispute. I pioneered releasing CDs, avoided ‘Playback’ performances, and became the first to perform overseas with Shaggy in 2003 and 2004. Verify with those who shared those moments.”

The interview concluded on an inspiring note, portraying a self-made individual whose perseverance, values, and focus amplified his successes.
