Kiyovu Sports coach Malick Wade struggles financially after three months without a salary

Kiyovu Sports coach Malick Wade reveals struggles with unpaid salary for 3 months, urging for help. The foreign coach has uplifted the team from relegation in Rwanda's league.

While Kiyovu Sports enjoys a strong performance streak in Rwanda’s top football league, defeating every rival, the club’s head coach, Malick Wade, is facing severe financial challenges. He has not received his salary for the last three months, leading to immense difficulties in managing his day-to-day life.

Malick Wade joined Kiyovu Sports during this league season as the team’s third coach of the year. He followed Bipfubusa Joslin and Lomami Marcel, who were dismissed prior to his arrival.

In an interview with Inyarwanda, Coach Wade spoke candidly about his financial struggles. He shared that, as a foreigner living in Rwanda, he has no other source of income, and the unpaid wages have left him grappling with essential living expenses.

He expressed, “I am a foreigner; I have no other source of income. Kiyovu Sports owes me three months’ salary. I decided to halt work due to issues with paying rent. Please, help me get my payment.”

Kiyovu Sports currently ranks 9th in the Rwanda league standings with 34 points. Despite his unresolved financial situation, Coach Wade has played a pivotal role in rescuing the team from the brink of relegation to a safer position in the league.
