The acclaimed Burundian artist and East African sensation Kirikou Akili is embarking on a promotional tour for his highly anticipated concert set for October 19, 2025, at Mundi Center in Kigali.
Known for his groundbreaking hit "Aha Nihe," Kirikou shared that this song is a heartfelt reflection of his gratitude to God for guiding him through struggles and achieving remarkable milestones, despite facing opposition along the way.
Upon arriving at Kigali International Airport, Kirikou was warmly received by Kigali Protocol members. They marked the commencement of what promises to be a memorable journey of the artist promoting his music and his concert aptly named 'Let's Celebrate.'
In an interview with InyaRwanda, Kirikou opened up about his purpose in Rwanda, saying, “Firstly, I’m here for personal promotion, to ensure people know who Kirikou Akili is and what I offer. I’m also excited about my upcoming concert on October 19 at Mundi Center, as well as the media tour for my latest single, 'Aha Nihe.'”
Kirikou spoke candidly about the unexpected success of "Aha Nihe," which he described as deeply personal. “Often, you create a song and hope for it to be a hit, but it doesn’t make an impression. At other times, you work on something simple, and the audience connects with it in surprising ways. I never expected 'Aha Nihe' to touch so many people deeply because the song is about my life. It’s truly humbling,” he said.
Discussing the powerful thematic essence of "Aha Nihe," he added, “It’s a song of gratitude to God for how far I’ve come despite the challenges and opposition I faced. It’s also a celebration directed at those who didn’t believe in me, as if to say, ‘Look at me now—Isn’t this something?’”
Meanwhile, Joshua Umukundwa, the manager of Kigali Protocol, which is organizing the event, shared his excitement about the high-caliber concert.
He announced that well-known Rwandan artists Bushali, Davis D, Yampano, and Diez Dolla are confirmed performers alongside Kirikou. Special thanks were extended to the event sponsor, Be One Gin, for contributing to what they anticipate will be a top-tier musical experience.
Kirikou has solidified his position as a renowned Burundian artist with a reputation for creating hits like "Yarampaye," a collaboration with Kivumbi King, and "Biraharawe." He revealed his continued commitment to collaborating with Rwandan artists, fostering creative cross-cultural projects that resonate with audiences from across the region.
