The MTN Iwacu Muzika Festival 2025 is scheduled to begin in July and will tour multiple cities in Rwanda, concluding in August. King James, celebrated for songs like "Hari Ukuntu," "Naratomboye," "Igitekerezo," and "Nyuma Yawe," will headline each concert, with various artists warming up audiences ahead of his performances.
This year’s festival will boast an impressive lineup, including Nel Ngabo, Ariel Wayz (recognized for her extraordinary vocal prowess), and Juno Kizigenza, whose youthful hits like "Mpa Formula" and "Please Me" have captured the hearts of younger audiences.

The Ben, a leading artist in Rwanda and internationally, was among the candidates but reportedly requested a fee of 100 million Rwandan Francs—a figure deemed prohibitive by organizers due to the festival’s extensive logistics. Similarly, Bruce Melodie, despite his immense popularity, faced scheduling challenges because of other obligations, including concerts, video shoots, and international collaborations, resulting in his exclusion. King James ultimately emerged as the ideal choice, thanks to his music’s emotional impact and his proven ability to engage large audiences.
MTN Iwacu Muzika Festival serves as a cornerstone of Rwandan cultural heritage, offering vibrant live performances each summer. By leveraging platforms like radio, television, and social media, the festival connects more fans with Rwandan artistry, promoting broader support for local artists.
