This Sunday at Kepler University, Kigali, the Kiddo Talent Show will make its grand debut. This groundbreaking event is set to become an annual highlight and aims to expand across the African continent in the near future, empowering children to showcase their unique talents.
The initiative, organized by Kiddo Hub, is designed to engage parents who are keen on nurturing their children's creative and athletic abilities from an early age, ensuring these skills create lifelong value.
In Rwanda, particularly in rural areas, many children possess incredible talents such as singing, playing football, and more, but often face limitations in access to platforms where they can showcase their abilities.
Challenges like inadequate infrastructure and misconceptions surrounding talent development hinder many children from realizing their potential. For instance, some parents struggle with balancing academic achievements and fostering their children's other abilities.
Ishimwe Kennedy, one of the show's young participants, shared his personal experience during an interview with InyaRwanda.com. He expressed his passion for singing, but revealed the difficulty of gaining support from his parents.
“I have a talent for singing, but my parents refuse to support me, fearing it might negatively impact my education. Additionally, children like me often lack opportunities or platforms to showcase what we can do,” Kennedy said.
Kiddo Hub, established by Mbonyumugezi Theodomire, has pledged to address these gaps and create meaningful avenues for children to thrive. During a press briefing held on Thursday, Mbonyumugezi emphasized the organization's mission to elevate children's skills across Rwanda and Africa.
“In Rwanda and Africa generally, there are no robust systems to promote children’s talents. We aim to establish a network where skilled individuals will visit communities to identify children with remarkable abilities, connect them to opportunities, and provide training sessions,” Mbonyumugezi stated.
The eagerly awaited Kiddo Talent Show brings together young participants and their parents from across the nation. It will be hosted at Kepler University, Kinyinya on Sunday, starting at 3 p.m., with doors opening at 2 p.m. sharp.
Tickets can still be purchased online via www.ibitaramo.com. Those unable to buy tickets online can secure them directly at the venue upon arrival.
