On Saturday, during a press interview, Jose Chameleon revealed that his concert in Rwanda was a heartfelt celebration of his 47th birthday and his profound appreciation for African music. Chameleon shared that the event was a way to honor his remarkable journey in the music industry and his deep connection with fans across the continent.
While turning 47 might lead some to assume he’s slowed down, fans at the ‘Chameleon Live in Kigali’ concert experienced the opposite. The event at Kigali Universe exceeded expectations, proving why Chameleon remains a legendary performer with unrivaled vibrancy.
Rising to fame 25 years ago, Chameleon has become one of East Africa's most cherished artists. This enduring reputation was showcased during his Kigali performance, where he captivated the audience with energy and authenticity, reinforcing his status as an icon of African music.
Jose Chameleon began his memorable set with his classic hit "Mama Mia." He previously shared that this song holds a special place in his heart, stating that if he ever had to perform just one song for the rest of his life, it'd be "Mama Mia," as it opened countless doors in his career. The crowd erupted with excitement as the legendary tune echoed across the venue.
Following "Mama Mia," Chameleon transitioned into another fan-favorite, “Acha Kulia.” The energy in the venue intensified, with fans eagerly singing along. For 30 minutes, Chameleon delivered powerful live performances before welcoming DJ Pius to the stage to collaborate on their hit song, “Agatako.”
Performing over an hour, Chameleon captivated fans who waved flags representing Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda—his homeland—and more. He expressed gratitude for their unwavering support, calling the night unforgettable.
Chameleon showcased his unique fashion sense, donning pants with a skirt-like design, paired with a jacket and stylish accessories. During his second song, he shed his jacket, further energizing the crowd while maintaining his signature high-energy performance.
His unmatched stage presence, distinctive voice, and genuine emotional connection with fans are what Chameleon credits for his success. “Remaining true to myself, my voice, and engaging sincerely with fans has kept me in demand," he explained. When he exited the stage, fans couldn’t hold back their cheers, longing for the concert to continue.
Jose Chameleon brought joy to his fans.
