The dramatic incident took place on Saturday, August 16, 2025, shortly after the MTN Iwacu Muzika Festival, an electrifying event that united prominent Rwandan artists and attracted thousands of fans to the venue in Rubavu.
Post-concert, the rappers joined a glamorous "White Party" celebration held at Lake Side. Later, they decided to move to a nightclub popularly known as "Kwa Nyanja."
However, as they departed the nightclub, the group encountered unexpected hostility from nine individuals, including intoxicated women, who began to harass the artists and their entourage.
The confrontation escalated into a physical altercation that lasted several tense minutes. Thankfully, Rwanda Police arrived swiftly to quell the chaos and apprehend some of those involved in the conflict.
Jay C spoke to InyaRwanda about the frightening experience, saying, "We were aggressively confronted. It was a hostile situation. Fans attacked us as we were leaving Kwa Nyanja, and we ended up mistreated. Thankfully, we escaped unscathed as God protected us."
The artists were traveling with close friends and family members, who shared their alarms over the unforeseen aggression they faced at the end of what should have been a joyous occasion.
Following this altercation, there has been an increased focus on the need to enhance security arrangements for high-profile events that gather large crowds, especially outside city centers. Concerns now extend beyond the concert venues themselves to include nearby hotspots like nightclubs and after-parties.
While musicians often rely on escorts or security staff, such incidents highlight the need for more robust measures to address unexpected scenarios.
Experts in Rwanda's entertainment industry advise that the events in Rubavu serve as an important lesson—not just for performers but also for event organizers and security personnel dedicated to safeguarding public gatherings.
