On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, national examinations for Ordinary Level and Advanced Level secondary education commenced nationwide. In Ngoma District, the exams officially started at IPRC Ngoma, marking a pivotal moment for thousands of students. A total of 6,941 examinees from this district embarked on their academic journey across 27 designated examination centers.
Standing out among these students is Adeline Niyonagize, a 20-year-old tourism student from GS Mutenderi, who showcased exceptional determination by starting her exams from Kibungo Hospital. Adeline had suffered a leg injury due to an accident, resulting in a fracture that required her to take a unique academic path amidst her recovery.
Alexandre Tuyishime, the Education Officer in Ngoma District, shared with The New Times that Adeline’s accident occurred shortly before the exams’ commencement. She was initially treated at Gahini Hospital and subsequently transferred to Kibungo Hospital, where special arrangements were made to ensure she could sit her exams without hindrance. Tuyishime applauded her ability to tackle the tests seamlessly despite the challenges posed by her condition.
This year’s national exams are set to conclude on July 18, 2025, marking an important milestone for students across the country, including those like Adeline who overcome significant obstacles to pursue their education.
