Inspired by the Truth of the Cross: Aimée Micomyiza Speaks on Her New Song “Amazi y’i Golgotha”

Gospel artist Aimée Micomyiza, who is currently based in Norway, has opened up about the message behind her new song titled “Amazi y’i Golgotha” (The Waters of Golgotha), describing it as a powerful reflection on the truth of the cross of Jesus Christ, portraying Him as the source of eternal life.

In an interview with InyaRwanda, Aimée explained that the song tells the spiritual journey of a person who is thirsty at heart and tries to satisfy that thirst through “the wells of the world,” but remains unfulfilled until they discover the true and life-giving waters found at Golgotha—the place where Jesus was crucified.

She said, “Amazi y’i Golgotha is a song that reveals the truth of the cross of Jesus Christ, showing Him as the source of eternal life. It reflects the journey of someone who was spiritually thirsty and tried to quench that thirst in worldly things but remained unsatisfied until discovering that the true water is found at Golgotha.”

The artist revealed that she co-wrote the song with her brother, Apostle Paul Bisengo, during a deeply spiritual season marked by prayer and a closer walk with God. At the time, their family had received teachings centered on the theme, “How can one become a friend of God?”

According to Aimée, this message sparked a deep hunger within their entire family—from the youngest to the oldest—to know God more intimately, to understand His nature, His vastness, and His will for their lives.

She described that season as one of deep self-reflection and honesty before God, where they came to understand that becoming God’s friend requires a pure heart, the ability to quickly let go of anything that defiles, and the discipline to guard one’s heart, as it is the source of life.

“We learned the importance of guarding our thoughts,” she added, “because that is where our dreams and vision can be stolen. We also learned the value of managing our time well, because the time we give to God reflects how much we love and value Him. The closer a person draws to God, the more He guides them and brings to life the plans He has for them.”

She noted that neglecting these spiritual principles can cause a person to remain stuck in cycles without progress, as they may be spiritually hindered. These revelations, she said, deepened their understanding of the significance of what Jesus accomplished at Golgotha and ignited a burden in them to share the message of salvation with the world.

Speaking about the impact she hopes listeners will gain from the song, Aimée emphasized that nothing can truly satisfy the human heart except God. “I want everyone who listens to this song to understand that nothing can fill the human heart except God,” she said. “I want them to be honest with themselves, evaluate where they stand in their spiritual lives, and make a genuine decision to draw closer to God.”

She added that “Amazi y’i Golgotha” represents new life, peace, hope, fulfillment, revelation, and renewed strength for anyone who encounters God. The song is especially intended for those who have not yet received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, as well as for believers, encouraging them to continually examine their lives and remain in His cleansing grace.

Quoting Scripture, she referenced Psalms 51:9: “Cleanse me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow,” and Gospel of John 4:14, which speaks of the living water that Jesus gives—water that becomes a spring leading to eternal life.

Looking ahead to 2026, Aimée Micomyiza shared that she plans to continue releasing songs with deep spiritual messages that inspire people to draw closer to God and understand His truth in their daily lives.

She also revealed that her audience can expect new music, personal testimonies, teachings based on the Word of God, as well as worship events and live performances. Ultimately, she says, her mission is for her music to go beyond entertainment and become a tool that transforms lives—helping people know God and build a genuine relationship with Him.
