I Dream of Becoming an International Professional Chef – Gospel Artist Cynthia Umulisa

Cynthia Umulisa, one of the fast-rising female voices in Gospel music, has revealed her ambition to become an internationally recognized professional chef, even as her music career continues to grow.

Best known for songs like “Ajya Arema Inzira,” Cynthia is gaining popularity in worship and praise music. However, beyond her musical talent, she has a deep passion for cooking—one she hopes to turn into a global career.

“I really love cooking, and it is my dream to become a professional chef on an international level,” she said. Cynthia studied Culinary Arts during her secondary education, laying the foundation for her aspirations in the culinary field.

She believes cooking is more than just preparing meals—it is an art that plays a vital role in everyday life. According to her, good food can bring joy, unite people, and promote healthier living.

Experts in nutrition and hospitality emphasize that studying culinary arts at international institutions provides advanced knowledge, including mastering balanced diets, understanding global cuisines, and using modern food technologies.

Graduates in this field often enjoy wide career opportunities, from working in top hotels and fine-dining restaurants to launching their own businesses that contribute to tourism and economic growth.

Cynthia also sees cooking as a powerful tool for cultural promotion, noting that it can help showcase traditional dishes on the global stage and attract international attention to a country.

She believes that combining her two passions—music and cooking—can make her a more impactful individual, both in Rwanda and beyond.

Currently studying in Europe, Cynthia continues to pursue her Gospel music ministry. She recently released “Ajya Arema Inzira,” a song that reflects her personal testimony of how God has guided her through different moments in life.

Her goal is to grow in both her talents—music and cooking—so she can positively influence others, spiritually and in their daily lives.

Cynthia grew up in Kigali, specifically in Kacyiru, and worships at Revival Fellowship Church, founded and led by her father, Rumande Esron Ruturwa. This upbringing helped shape her strong Christian values and passion for ministry from a young age.

She credits her parents for continuously supporting and praying for her as she spreads the Gospel through music. “My parents pray for me and encourage me to keep sharing my Father’s message through music,” she said.

Cynthia’s mission in music is to share the message of Jesus Christ, reminding people of God’s love and kindness while encouraging them to trust in God rather than worldly things.

Her latest song, “Ajya Arema Inzira,” is a personal testimony of how God made a way for her in unexpected situations. She describes it as a true story of her life, where she experienced divine guidance beyond her expectations.

Beyond her talents, Cynthia also calls on young people to live purposeful lives, reject division and genocide ideology, and instead promote unity, love, and mutual respect.

“Young people have a responsibility to understand the true history of our country and to be guided by values such as unity, love, and respect,” she emphasized.
