In an exclusive interview with InyaRwanda, Phil Emon revealed the story behind the collaboration that reimagined his song “Delicious.” Initially completed and set for release, the Afrobeat track gained a new dimension when producer Clement approached Phil for a joint effort featuring Nel Ngabo.
Phil shared: “Yes! As I was preparing to release ‘Delicious’ in May, they called me, expressed how much they liked the song, and asked if we could discuss working on it together with Nel Ngabo.”
He elaborated: “Understanding the importance of creating great music through collaboration with talented artists, I welcomed the idea fully. The project began right away, with Clement spearheading the audio production to transform the song.”
Phil explained that working with Nel Ngabo offered a unique experience that elevated the track. He described it as bringing unmatched quality and added artistic strength to his music. Phil remarked that it was a distinctive milestone, marking his growth and enriching his journey in Rwanda’s music scene.
On the decision to release without visuals: Phil disclosed that the team decided to focus on refining the audio first before unveiling the video, ensuring it achieves a polished and high-quality standard.
“We first released the audio while continuing to work on the video. This approach ensures that the visuals will complement the song’s high level of production seamlessly,” Phil emphasized.
Adding further, Phil called “Delicious” a defining song in his career. “It’s a pivotal track in my music journey, creating a solid foundation for where I’m heading artistically,” he noted.

Born and raised in Nyanza District in Southern Rwanda, Phil Emon pursued his high school education before relocating to Kigali with his family. His musical journey started at a young age, finding joy in singing for people and crafting songs that showcased his talent.
