The former Grey’s Anatomy star announced the arrival in his trademark humorous style, sharing a video that appeared to recreate a memorable scene from Spike Lee’s 1989 film Do the Right Thing.
In the clip, Onieva can be heard speaking Spanish in the background about preparing a Spanish tortilla, while Williams searches through a refrigerator filled with baby bottles.
“English, alright, English! I want my son to speak English,” Williams jokes before adding, “Bad enough his name is Hector.”
The video closely mirrors a scene from Do the Right Thing, in which Spike Lee’s character, Mookie, delivers almost the same line while looking through a refrigerator. Williams also included a clip from the original movie alongside the video and a photo of the Spanish tortilla featured in the conversation.
Despite the playful announcement, the couple has kept details about their newborn largely private, including whether Hector is actually the baby’s name.
The only glimpse of the child so far came from an Instagram Story shared by Onieva, showing the baby’s feet resting on her stomach as she played with them.
Williams and Onieva met while working on the 2025 series Hotel Costiera, which was filmed in Italy. They kept their relationship largely private and announced their pregnancy in May through a subtle series of photos shared by Onieva.
The newborn is Williams’ third child. He is already a father to 12-year-old Sadie and 11-year-old Maceo, whom he shares with his former wife, Aryn Drake-Lee.
Williams has previously spoken about the challenges of balancing fatherhood with his acting career. While filming Hotel Costiera in Italy, he told People that the nine-hour time difference made it difficult to stay connected with his children, saying he sometimes woke up at 3 a.m. to call them.
The actor has also emphasized the importance of protecting his children while preparing them to face the realities of life, describing their wellbeing as one of his highest priorities.
With the arrival of his third child, Williams and Onieva are now beginning a new chapter as parents together.
