In a revealing interview with InyaRwanda, Hadji Kanyabugabo has called out Rayon Sports for allegedly failing to repay him RWF 35 million. He emphasized that the matter has already been taken to government authorities, underlining the gravity of the claim.
Kanyabugabo stated, "The issue is real and has reached government authorities. I trust that the state will resolve it. To clarify, I am demanding RWF 35 million from Rayon Sports, which surpasses the figure written on the cheque."
He explained further, "While many think my claim is RWF 30 million, as indicated on the cheque, the additional RWF 5 million, including close to 2,000 francs, is undeniable—and even the club president, Thaddée, knows this."
Reflecting on his interactions with the club president, Kanyabugabo shared, "Ideally, President Thaddée and I should not be in a position to take legal action against each other. Unfortunately, circumstances forced my hand. I believe he feels guilty about how the situation unfolded."
He expressed hope for eventual repayment but lamented the betrayal, saying, "It's disheartening when someone wrongs you yet borrows such a significant sum, promising repayment. Actions like these reflect personal shortcomings, and that needs addressing."
Kanyabugabo revealed that the RWF 35 million loan was initially intended to help resolve Rayon Sports’ pressing challenges. He and President Twagirayezu Thaddée had agreed that repayment would come directly from the president himself. However, Kanyabugabo was later handed a Rayon Sports cheque that proved to have no funds.
Highlighting deeper issues within the club’s leadership, Kanyabugabo noted a persistent lack of unity. He stated, "There’s a clear lack of harmony in Rayon Sports' leadership. However, as someone familiar with the team, I believe every household faces its own challenges. The critical question is how you solve them."
He urged for immediate action, saying, "This leadership issue needs urgent resolution. President Muvunyi should spearhead this effort. If unresolved, the recruitment of players next year may face significant challenges."
Kanyabugabo stressed the importance of collaboration, stating, "Rayon Sports thrives on uniting fans and supporters. However, when misguidance enters the fold—like when leaders manipulate each other instead of fostering teamwork—it leads to destruction rather than growth."
After Kanyabugabo's statements, the InyaRwanda team attempted to contact Rayon Sports President Twagirayezu Thaddée via phone for his comment, but he was unreachable.
