Gloria Bugie: From Heartbreak to Music Stardom and Her Big Aspirations

Rwandan-born and Ugandan-based singer Gloria Bugie opens up on her heartbreak with Kampala men, her music career, bold style, and big dreams for the future.

In a recent and heartfelt interview, singer Gloria Bugie opened up about her emotional journey through heartbreak and shared how a past relationship left her deeply wounded. Talking about the experience, she remarked, “The men in Kampala hurt me deeply. They did so many bad things to me. Now, I want to try dating men from other places like Bundibujjo, Masaka, or Jinja. As for Kampala men, I’m done with them.”

At present, Bugie disclosed that she is not in a romantic relationship and is channeling all her energy into her flourishing music career. “I currently don’t have a boyfriend. I’m concentrating on my music journey, and I know I’m still young. Right now, I don’t have enough time to dedicate to love, but I’ll find time for it soon,” she revealed passionately.

Born in Rwanda on September 22, 1997, Gloria Bugie relocated to Uganda, where she nurtured her talent and embarked on a rewarding music career. She first gained recognition in 2019 with hits like "Fire" and "Only You." Over the years, she has collaborated with celebrated music producers such as Daddy Andre, Eli Arkhis, Yo Kuki, and Izo Pro.

Her hit song "Bankyawa," which is fondly referred to by fans as "Nyash," became a chart-topping success, earning her a solid place in the music industry. Besides her music, Bugie remains a discussion point for her unconventional and bold fashion choices, as well as her confidence in embracing her unique physique.

At the close of 2024, controversy followed her after leaked images of her body surfaced on social media, reportedly shared by an ex-boyfriend. Despite the emotional turmoil this caused, Bugie stayed resilient and remained steadfast in her music career. Her perseverance continues to inspire many.

During her candid interview, Bugie expressed her dreams of collaborating with some of Uganda’s most prominent artists, including Bebe Cool and David Lutalo. She also shared her aspiration to own luxurious cars like those driven by top artists. Although she has not yet clinched a Zzina Award, the determined singer remains focused on achieving her ambitious goals.
