Weekend Music Highlights:
The Rwandan music scene continues to thrive as artists dive into their creativity to offer fresh tracks for fans to enjoy over the weekend. From mainstream hits to gospel anthems, this week is packed with exciting releases.
"Folomiana", a much-anticipated track, has become a major talking point in Rwanda’s music circles. Kevin Kade revealed that he and Chriss Eazy invited Mugisha Benjamin (popularly known as The Ben) to join them. The collaboration stemmed from The Ben’s admiration for the track and his significant influence on Kevin's and Chriss's musical journeys.
In a candid interview with InyaRwanda, Kevin Kade shared the journey behind "Folomiana." He explained that the song began as his solo project in March 2025 before Chriss Eazy joined, with The Ben joining shortly before its completion and release. Kevin remarked, “The idea to collaborate came from Chriss Eazy. It started with me alone, but once The Ben heard it, he loved it and proposed a collaboration.”
While The Ben was on a European tour, the team waited for his return to shoot his video clips. Kevin explained, “When he returned, he shot his portions separately since Chriss and I had already completed ours. That’s why earlier photos only show Chriss Eazy and me.”
This marks the second time Kevin Kade has teamed up with The Ben, an opportunity he calls nothing short of a blessing. “Collaborating with him is invaluable. It’s a testament to how he values and elevates me artistically. His kindness and willingness to share his resources are unmatched,” Kevin noted.
The video for "Folomiana" features unique styling inspired by Mexican culture, blended with modern trends prevalent in the region. Kevin commented, “We aimed for originality and poured numerous creative ideas into the production. While the song required a notable investment, those details remain a professional secret.”
"Folomiana" is poised as the second track on Kevin Kade and Chriss Eazy’s upcoming joint album. The duo plans to build on their close relationship and deliver more hits throughout the year. The song’s production was a team effort, involving Kevin Kade, Chriss Eazy, The Ben, Element Eleéeh, Diez Dola, Junior Giti, and Dylan Kabaka, with lyric refinement supported by industry veteran Makanyaga Abdul.
This Friday also saw rising star Bwiza release her new album titled "25 Shades."
Fans were surprised to learn that despite their stellar careers, Bruce Melodie and The Ben had never collaborated—until now. Bwiza managed to bring the two icons together in what many consider a historic achievement. The collaborations include Bruce Melodie on "Ogera", a track prominent in campaigns promoting President Paul Kagame, and The Ben on "Best Friend."
The album features 12 diverse songs, such as Ahazaza, To You, Maritha, Isi, Hello, Symbol, Ndabaga, Nasara (featuring Loader), Ginger, and "Best Friend," which features vibrant Amapiano rhythms. Producers like Loader, Prince Kiiiz, Davy Denko, Phantom, Santana Sauce, and Bob Pro contributed to the project’s success.
In addition to Bwiza and Kevin’s hits, other artists have joined the lineup of this weekend’s music frenzy with fresh releases, including sessions by Bosco Nshuti, Kivumbi, Diez Dola, and Khalifan (featuring Marina).
