The APR FC team has officially welcomed back defender Fitina Ombolenga, announcing his return through their social media platforms.
Upon his unveiling, Ombolenga shared his feelings in an interview with the national television channel, expressing joy in rejoining his former team.
He stated, "I am genuinely happy because when I left APR FC, it was under circumstances I barely understood. Coming back now feels amazing, and I am delighted."
Delving into his time at Rayon Sports, Ombolenga recounted the difficulties he faced, notably the accusations of match-fixing that overshadowed his stay at the club.
He elaborated, "The year I spent at Rayon Sports was incredibly tough, especially towards the end of the season. There were multiple challenges that drained my morale, including baseless rumors about match-fixing."
"They claimed bribery played a part in us deliberately losing matches. It’s baffling to even imagine what kind of bribe could make someone betray their team and countless dedicated fans," Ombolenga added with frustration.
While recounting his motivations for joining Rayon Sports, Ombolenga emphasized his ambition to win trophies but explained how he was disheartened by the unsubstantiated accusations from leaders within the club.
He shared, "My goal was clear—having left APR FC as a championship winner, I wanted to secure another trophy with Rayon Sports. That would have been an achievement to cherish. But hearing leaders completely support unfounded claims about you left me deeply discouraged."
The false accusations took a toll on Ombolenga, affecting his morale not only during matches but also in practice sessions. He explained, "Being falsely accused of something you have never done makes you feel defeated. At home and even during training, I felt deprived of all enthusiasm. It felt like those allegations shattered everything."
Despite the adversity, Ombolenga revealed the growth and resilience he developed during his time at Rayon Sports, emphasizing the importance of perseverance in football.
"The key lesson I learned is that without resilience, tough moments in football can lead you to abandon the sport or act in ways that could ruin your public image," he reflected.
Looking forward, Ombolenga expressed strong doubts about ever rejoining Rayon Sports, citing the controversies he experienced there.
He commented, "I don’t see Rayon Sports as an option anymore. Given the challenges I faced and the false accusations, returning there would be extremely difficult."
Ombolenga originally joined Rayon Sports last summer after leaving APR FC, which he first joined in 2017. His return to APR FC marks a new chapter in his career.
Fitina Ombolenga expressed joy about his decision to reunite with APR FC.
He reiterated that returning to Rayon Sports would be highly unlikely due to past challenges.
