On Wednesday, October 19, FIFA published its updated rankings for national football teams following recent friendly matches and 2026 World Cup qualification games for select nations.
Rwanda's national football team, Amavubi, did not participate in officially recorded matches in this period. The squad comprised locally-based players who engaged in practice matches among themselves and played a friendly encounter with Sudanese club Al Hilal, which concluded in a 0-0 draw.
In the October rankings, Rwanda’s Amavubi retained their 131st position globally, maintaining 1,117.78 FIFA points, the same standing as in the previous month.
The global top 10 football teams, according to FIFA's latest rankings, are:

- France
- England
- Brazil
- Portugal
- The Netherlands
- Belgium
- Germany
- Croatia
In the African continent, Morocco continues to dominate, leading the African football rankings. The top five African teams include:
- Morocco (1st in Africa)
- Senegal (2nd in Africa)
- Egypt (3rd in Africa)
- Algeria (4th in Africa)
- Nigeria (5th in Africa)
Meanwhile, Rwanda’s Amavubi are gearing up for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification matches. The tournament will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
