The meeting took place on Friday, February 20, 2026, at FERWAFA headquarters. It was held during the federation’s regular monthly Executive Committee meeting and was led by FIFA’s Director of Member Associations Governance Services, Emilie Domm. She was accompanied by FIFA’s East Africa representative, Davis Ndayisenga, and the Director of Association Development, Sixbert Habimana.
Focus on Good Governance Principles
The discussions centered on improving operations based on good governance principles, clearly defining the roles and responsibilities of the federation’s various organs, and reinforcing the separation of powers to ensure greater transparency and accountability.
Participants emphasized the importance of continuously strengthening governance systems, noting that sound management enhances daily operations, promotes responsible financial oversight, and fosters a culture of integrity across all levels of football administration in Rwanda.
Following the meeting, FERWAFA Secretary General and Chief Executive Officer, Bonnie Mugabe, underscored the significance of such engagements.
He stated: “These discussions are essential because they help us reinforce the implementation of effective governance practices. They enable us to further promote a culture of integrity and professionalism in our operations, which is fundamental to achieving FERWAFA’s mission of developing and strengthening football in Rwanda.”
By implementing these governance principles in its day-to-day activities, FERWAFA continues its journey toward building a strong and sustainable football system founded on transparency, professionalism, and competitiveness at the international level.
