Eric "Bakame" Ndayishimiye has officially joined Rayon Sports as a goalkeeping coach, cementing his return to the club where he once excelled as a goalkeeper. News had surfaced over the past days about negotiations between Bakame and Rayon Sports, following his review of the club's contract proposal. Finally, yesterday evening, reports confirmed that Bakame signed the agreement, marking the beginning of his new role.
After retiring as a player, Bakame transitioned to coaching and started his career with Bugesera FC. There, he coached for several months in 2023, following a six-month playing stint at the club. At Rayon Sports, he replaces Andre Mazimpaka, the former goalkeeping coach who was suspended last season due to allegations of misconduct.
Bakame's return holds sentimental and strategic significance, as he was a key player for Rayon Sports between 2013 and 2018. During those years, he helped the club win two Rwandan Premier League titles and played a pivotal role in their journey to the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Beyond Rayon Sports, Eric "Bakame" Ndayishimiye boasts a storied football career, which includes representing the Rwandan national team, Amavubi, from 2007 onward. He also played for notable clubs such as APR FC, Atraco FC, AS Kigali, AFC Leopard, and Police FC.
