Kenzo chose not to attend a press conference in Ntungamo ahead of the much-anticipated 'Coffee Marathon' concert held on Saturday, May 24, 2025. The conference featured notable artists Bebe Cool, The Ben, Truth256, and Diamond Platnumz. After the event, Kenzo openly expressed disappointment about the perceived neglect of local artists by the organizers.
Kenzo passionately remarked: “You can’t tell me that you rented a private jet and helicopter for invited artists (Diamond and The Ben) while others were disregarded. We are also people, and we cannot simply watch while others receive all these honors, especially in our own country, and remain silent.”
Reports confirmed that Diamond Platnumz arrived in Uganda aboard a private jet and was transported to the Ntungamo press conference via helicopter. He was joined by The Ben, who had engaged in pre-event discussions at Kampala Serena Hotel earlier that day.
Kenzo accused the organizers of displaying excessive privilege and undermining Ugandan artists, underscoring their essential contributions to events like these.
During an exclusive interview with Big Eye, Kenzo added: “I’m not saying this out of jealousy. But we too deserve recognition in such events, because if I had no value, I wouldn’t have been invited to perform.”
Kenzo’s bold sentiments quickly took over social media, sparking fiery debates among fans and fellow artists. The discussion centered on fairness in the treatment of local artists versus international artists during high-caliber events hosted in Uganda.
While some individuals sided with Kenzo, arguing that Ugandan artists should receive the respect they merit, others countered that international stars require enhanced arrangements for transportation and security due to their fame and global stature.
Nevertheless, Kenzo emphasized that equality should remain the core principle, asserting that all artists warrant equal recognition, especially when performing in their home country.
The Ben and Diamond arrived in Ntungamo for the press conference via helicopter, capturing public attention.
Diamond Platnumz greeted prominent Ugandan comedian Alex Muhangi, a key figure behind the organization of the event.
The Ben also exchanged warm greetings with Alex Muhangi, who has invited him to perform in Uganda numerous times.
Eddy Kenzo openly voiced his dissatisfaction regarding how local Ugandan artists were treated at the 'Coffee Marathon'.
The Ben triumphantly performed in Uganda once more, following his earlier show on May 17, 2025.
Diamond Platnumz expressed heartfelt gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to him during the event. The artist also revealed plans to collaborate on a new track with legendary Ugandan musician Jose Chameleone.
