In an exclusive interview with InyaRwanda, Davis D revealed the intricacies of creating music outside Rwanda. While it presents unique challenges, Davis D emphasizes that working abroad is an essential step for any artist aiming for personal growth and global recognition.
He stated, “Nothing in music is easy, especially when you work in unfamiliar locations. These challenges exist, but our experience allows us to adapt and overcome them.”
Davis D explained his collaboration with rising star Soso, which was born out of his quest to work with talented female artists. “I also tried to work with other women, but Soso was the one who got the opportunity. I wanted to showcase a talented female artist, and I found her to be someone deserving of attention,” he shared.
This resonates with Davis D’s three-year-long mission to promote emerging female musicians. He remarked, “I focus on doing my part by presenting them. Others can step in to support them.”
Davis D’s latest track, “Shoke,” highlights his meticulous approach to music projects. Produced by Mamba and visually directed by Bagenzi Bernard, who also serves as Davis D’s manager, the song showcases the effort and precision put into his work. He explained, “These projects I’m working on elevate your career. I won’t share the budget details because my work requires significant investment, all of it aimed at advancing my music to higher levels.”
He noted, “These projects I’m working on are transformative and elevate my career to newer heights. Every effort reflects my commitment to bringing my music to international audiences.”
Davis D revealed his ambition to continue growing as an artist, sharing how this journey started in Dubai, where he created more than six songs. He has since expanded to countries like France and Belgium, leveraging opportunities that his music has unlocked for him internationally.
