The show took place at the Polo Field Showground and marked the closing of his African tour titled “5ive Alive Tour Africa 2026.” It served as the highlight of his regional journey, which also included a stop in Kigali.
Zambian television outlet Grindstone reported that Davido appeared on stage wearing traditional royal-inspired attire linked to Zambia’s Bemba Kingdom heritage, known as Kulubemba, showing respect for the culture of the host country.
The Kulubemba Kingdom is one of Zambia’s most historically significant traditional institutions, particularly among the Bemba people in the northern region of the country.
It is led by the paramount chief known as the Chitimukulu, who plays a key role in preserving culture, customary law, and community leadership.
Historically, the Bemba people trace their origins to the Luba Kingdom (present-day Democratic Republic of Congo), migrating to Zambia centuries ago and establishing a powerful traditional system that remains influential to this day.
Even during colonial rule, the Kulubemba leadership helped preserve cultural identity and local governance structures, despite interacting with British colonial authorities.
Although Zambia is now a republic, the Kulubemba institution continues to hold cultural and social influence, especially in matters related to tradition, land, and community leadership.
In essence, Kulubemba represents more than a kingdom—it stands as a symbol of identity, unity, and heritage for the Bemba people.
The concert was reported as fully sold out, bringing together Afrobeats fans and local Zambian music lovers, making it one of the biggest entertainment events recently held in the country.
Social media footage showed massive crowd engagement, especially during Davido’s hit song “With You,” which fans sang so loudly that they nearly overwhelmed the artist’s own performance.
At one point, a drone flew very close to the stage where Davido was performing, raising brief safety concerns. However, he continued the show without interruption, demonstrating professionalism and stage control.
The concert has since been described as a historic moment in Zambia’s entertainment scene, with many fans also revisiting his decade-old hit “Aye,” which still enjoys massive popularity.
Davido’s two-day performances in Zambia—on May 1 and May 2, 2026—further reinforced his status as one of Africa’s biggest live performers and a leading global ambassador of Afrobeats, a genre that continues to expand its international influence.
