Speaking on a recent episode of the Swift Conversations podcast, Davido said he is currently focused on creating music rooted in African sounds, working closely with his original Nigerian producers. However, he noted that he remains open to international collaborations, especially with American artists.
“The music I am making now is very African. In this next project, I am working with a lot of my original producers from back home,” he said. “But I’m still going to collaborate. Me and Chris Brown have an album coming next year.”
The duo first teamed up in 2019 on the hit single “Blow My Mind,” which quickly became a fan favorite and marked the beginning of their strong musical partnership.
Davido also confirmed that their long-anticipated joint album is on track for release in 2027, reigniting excitement among fans after nearly two years of speculation. He made this revelation while speaking on the sidelines of his performance at Coachella 2026.
“There’s definitely more music. Me and Chris Brown have an album coming out hopefully at the end of next year,” he said, giving fans the first clear indication of a possible release timeline.
Over the years, Davido has spoken highly of Chris Brown, describing him as one of the greatest performers of this generation. He has also hinted that they have recorded enough songs together to potentially release multiple albums.
Their collaboration history dates back to 2019 with “Blow My Mind” from Davido’s album A Good Time. That same year, Chris Brown featured Davido on “Lower Body” from his album Indigo.
They continued working together on “Shopping Spree” (2020), which featured Young Thug and appeared on Davido’s A Better Time. In 2022, they reunited on “Nobody Needs To Know” from Chris Brown’s album Breezy.
One of their biggest hits, “Sensational” (2023), featuring Lojay, earned both artists their first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 and a nomination at the Grammy Awards for Best African Song Performance in 2024.
Their most recent collaboration, “Hmm,” was featured on Chris Brown’s 2024 album 11:11.
Ahead of the joint project, both artists are also preparing individual releases. Davido has indicated that his next album will strongly reflect his African roots, while Chris Brown is gearing up for his 12th studio album.
There are also strong indications that the collaboration could be followed by a global tour, with fans expecting performances across Europe and Africa.
Currently, Davido is on the European leg of his 5ive Alive Tour, continuing to expand his global presence as anticipation builds for the joint album.
