The festival aims to showcase African talent and boost creative industries, including music, fashion, and performing arts. Kartel’s tour begins in Kampala on May 1st, moves to Nairobi on May 8th, and arrives in Kigali on May 9th at the BK Arena, marking a historic moment for Dancehall fans in Rwanda.
Alongside Kartel, the festival will feature Kenya’s Charisma, Uganda’s Elijah Kitaka, and Rwanda’s Element Eleéeh, highlighting regional talent and international collaboration. Organizers emphasize that the festival is more than a concert; it is a platform for youth empowerment and cultural exchange across East Africa.
Vybz Kartel, with over 20 years in the music industry, has helped shape Dancehall globally. Hits like Clarks (2010), Summertime (2011), Romping Shop (2009), and collaborations with artists like Popcaan and Tory Lanez have cemented his international reputation.
Despite personal and legal challenges, Kartel remains a dominant force, influencing new generations of Dancehall artists.
The Talanta Afrika Festival in Kigali will be a historic showcase, bringing Vybz Kartel’s energy, legacy, and global appeal to Rwandan audiences for the first time.
