On Monday, Coach Mashami Vincent announced his official departure from Police FC via his X (formerly Twitter) account, reflecting on his three-year tenure with heartfelt appreciation for the club's management, staff, and players. He expressed gratitude for the trust and support he received throughout his time at the club.
He said: "I want to thank the management of Police FC for believing in me since I joined the club, as well as their unwavering support over the years. I also want to thank the team officials, staff, and all players for their hard work and dedication. Thank you for everything we achieved together. I wish the club and our extraordinary fans continued success."
In response, Police FC paid tribute to Mashami Vincent shortly after his post, acknowledging his immense contribution alongside his coaching team, which comprised Bisengimana Justin, Nyandwi Idrissa, and Tumaine Emmanuel.
Additionally, Police FC announced via their social media accounts the exit of Bigirimana Abbedy, who had joined the team in the summer of 2023 from Kiyovu Sports. The gifted midfielder from Burundi, known for his ability to facilitate attacking plays, is rumored to be moving to Rayon Sports.
The club also confirmed the departure of players Jean Clovis Sugira, Kwitonda Ally, and Odili Chukwuma, marking a significant reshuffling ahead of the next season.
Mashami’s departure follows an underwhelming season that did not fulfill the high hopes of fans and the management despite the summer transfers undertaken last year. Police FC finished fourth in the league, reached the semifinals of the Peace Cup, and was eliminated in the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup by Algeria’s CS Constantine.
Since joining Police FC in 2022, Mashami Vincent led the team to secure three major trophies: the Peace Cup and the Super Cup among them, leaving behind a legacy of crucial victories.
