Christopher Muneza Urges Focus Beyond The Ben and Bruce Melodie Rivalry

Rwandan singer Christopher Muneza, popularly known as Christopher, has spoken out against the excessive attention given to the reported rivalry between The Ben and Bruce Melodie, warning that it risks overshadowing other talented artists in the industry.

He made the remarks on the evening of Thursday, February 26, 2026, during an appearance at the Gen-Z Comedy show held at Camp Kigali. The event brought together fans for a night of entertainment, during which Christopher also showcased his new album titled H20.

“You Are Mistaken If You Think It’s Only About Two Artists”

While reflecting on his musical journey — from his early days, his time at Kina Music, his participation in Primus Guma Guma Super Stars, and over 15 years of stage experience — Christopher addressed a question that sparked strong reactions from the audience: the widely discussed rivalry between The Ben and Bruce Melodie.

Although he acknowledged that both artists are major figures in Rwandan music, he stressed that they are not the only talents the country has to offer.

“You are mistaken,” he said. “When you keep comparing just a few people, it blinds you from seeing others. An artist like Sean Brizzy is very talented, Mike Kayihura, Andy Bumuntu, Diez Dolla […]”

Christopher explained that when media coverage and fan discussions revolve around only two artists, others with strong talent and fresh ideas may struggle to receive the recognition they deserve.

The singer reminded music lovers that they play a key role in elevating the Rwandan music industry by listening to and supporting a diverse range of artists.

“There are so many great artists in this country,” he added. “Open your eyes. Don’t only focus on what the media places in front of you. Look further and give other artists a chance.”

His message appeared to call for a shift in mindset — encouraging audiences to prioritize artistry, creativity, and quality music over narratives centered on rivalry.

Christopher’s latest album, H20, is the third project of his career. He described it as a reflection of his artistic growth — a mature body of work shaped by experience and a desire to deliver meaningful messages.

At a time when debates about high-profile rivalries continue to dominate social media and entertainment headlines, Christopher has chosen a different approach: reminding the public that Rwandan music is rich with diverse talent, and that every artist deserves the opportunity to be heard.

As fans continue to seek fresh sounds and innovation, his words may encourage a broader appreciation of the depth and variety within Rwanda’s music industry.

"There are so many great artists in this country. Open your eyes. Don’t only focus on what the media places in front of you" - Christopher
