The mother of popular Rwandan musician Chriss Eazy passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Nyarugenge Hospital. She was laid to rest the same day at the Muslim Cemetery in Nyamirambo, leaving her loved ones in profound sorrow.
On Sunday, June 15, 2025, Chriss Eazy’s family, close friends, fellow artists, and relatives gathered at Chris Hotel in Ruyenzi to mark the conclusion of the mourning period for his beloved mother. This emotional event highlighted her lasting impact through heartfelt tributes and fond memories.
"I lost a best friend"
One close family friend of Chriss Eazy’s mother delivered a deeply emotional testimonial, stating, "I lost a best friend in my life." In a touching appeal to her children, she added, "Let’s live peacefully together, as I did with your mother."
The family friend reminisced about the moments shared before her passing. She shared, “She asked me to forgive her and nurture the loving heart your mother valued so much. Just before she passed, she called me and said she longed for the days we shared the same bed.”
She described the visit she made accompanied by their granddaughter, Isimbi. “We sat down and talked, and I felt moved to be with her,” she explained. They conversed until late into the night, sharing a final connection. Two days later, Chriss Eazy’s mother expressed feeling unwell and wished to visit the hospital.
However, tragedy struck as she passed away while riding a motorcycle delivering food to her. “Her loss was unbearable,” the family friend lamented, “I was heartbroken when she passed just as I was bringing her food.”
It was Chriss Eazy himself who delivered the devastating news. In shock, the family friend recalled dropping her phone, later comforted by a soldier who offered words of strength and solidarity.
Concluding her testimonial, she shared solemnly, “Her departure has left an irreplaceable void. May God warmly receive her soul. Though we still needed her, God loved her more. I will forever honor her memory.”
"I lost everything in life"
A relative from Chriss Eazy’s family revealed that before her passing, his mother appointed him as the new family leader. “Before she left us, she declared, ‘The person I entrust to lead this family is Chriss Eazy,’” they shared.
During his brief yet poignant two-minute speech, Chriss Eazy opened up about his grief. “I lost a friend, I lost my life companion. I lost everything,” he confessed.
Chriss praised the unbreakable bond he had with his mother and pledged to honor her influence on his life. He expressed gratitude to Rwanda’s Islamic community for their comforting support, along with the artists and family members from both sides who stood by him during this difficult time.
Taking the lessons he learned from his mother, Chriss urged others to extend their trust not only to him but also to his children, promising, “I will never let you down. Together, we will honor her legacy.”
He concluded with a poignant promise, “Her teachings will stay with me forever. I will not disappoint you. Thank you for standing with me.”
