The Southwark Crown Court approved Chris Brown's bail release, restoring hope among global fans following his detention over allegations of intentional assault.
Judge Tony Baumgartner gave Chris Brown permission to proceed with his scheduled performances, including one in the UK. However, the singer was required to post bail as an assurance he will attend future court sessions when summoned.
Chris Brown is expected back in court on June 13. Continued detention would have disrupted his upcoming European tour, where at least two concerts would have been missed.
The 36-year-old R&B artist is facing accusations of assaulting producer Abe Diaw in an aggressive incident at Tape Club, an upscale nightclub in Mayfair, London, in February 2023.
Prosecutors claim Chris Brown attacked Diaw multiple times with a bottle before intensifying the assault with punches and kicks. Surveillance cameras reportedly captured the entire event in front of several onlookers.
In addition, Omololu Akinlolu, 38, professionally known as Hoody Baby and a close associate of Chris Brown, has also been charged with participating in the alleged assault on producer Abe Diaw.
Neither Chris Brown nor Hoody Baby has entered a plea for these charges. Both artists are required to appear in court again on June 20.
Chris Brown skyrocketed to fame in 2005 and garnered his first Grammy in 2011 for Best R&B Album with "F.A.M.E." Notably, he took home another Grammy in 2025 for his deluxe album "11:11."
He is celebrated for hit tracks like “Run It,” “Kiss Kiss,” and “Without You.”
The singer's highly anticipated European tour kicks off on June 8, 2025, in Amsterdam and will extend to the United States starting in July 2025.
Chris Brown was released by a UK court after posting bail equivalent to RWF 8,710,000,000, ensuring his freedom to continue his international performances.
