Mugarura made the announcement on Friday night, June 5, 2026, during a press conference held at Camp Kigali, attended by journalists, artists, and key partners involved in the project.
According to Mugarura, the idea for the nationwide tour was initiated by Bruce Melodie and is being supported by Watuwevu, with the goal of bringing world-class entertainment to different parts of the country.
“The aim is to spread joy across the country and deliver unforgettable performances to Rwandans. That is why we have invested heavily in the preparation and execution of these concerts. What people will experience during this tour is something Rwanda has never seen before,” he said.
Beyond entertainment, Mugarura emphasized that the project is also designed to create temporary employment opportunities for young people.
He explained that each week, approximately 915 people will be hired to support various aspects of the events, including stage setup, security, guest services, logistics, and other event-related operations.
“Every location we visit will generate three days of employment opportunities. Each week, around 915 people will be engaged. By the end of the tour, that number will reach 2,745 jobs. These opportunities will mainly benefit young people who will gain both income and valuable experience working on a large-scale project,” he explained.
Mugarura added that all partners involved are committed to ensuring that the tour becomes more than just an entertainment event by creating meaningful economic opportunities for local communities.
In addition to the concerts, the tour will feature an Expo designed to support entrepreneurs and artists from the different regions visited.
The exhibition space will provide local businesses and creatives with a platform to showcase their products, services, and talents to a wider audience.
“We want every stop on the tour to include an exhibition. This will allow entrepreneurs and artists from those communities to promote their work, connect with potential customers, and build new partnerships,” Mugarura noted.
Organizers believe the initiative will not only boost Rwanda’s entertainment industry but also contribute to local economic development through increased business activity, service delivery, and job creation.
The Summer Country Tour is scheduled to kick off on June 13, 2026, and will travel across all provinces of Rwanda before concluding on July 4, 2026.
One of the biggest highlights of the tour will be seeing Bruce Melodie and The Ben sharing the stage throughout the country, fulfilling a long-standing wish of music fans who have eagerly awaited the opportunity to see the two superstars perform together in different regions of Rwanda.
