Bonnie Mugabe's appointment follows Richard Mugisha, the Second Vice President in charge of FERWAFA's technical matters, who had been serving as the interim Secretary General since the committee's elections in August this year.
Known for his rich experience in football management, Bonnie Mugabe previously served as Head of Competitions at the Rwanda Football Federation from 2018 to 2020, where he honed his administrative skills before transitioning to a significant role at FIFA. His expertise in managing football operations positions him as a vital asset to FERWAFA in his new role.
Before embarking on a journey in football governance, Bonnie spent several years as a journalist, working with The New Times Rwanda and KT Press. This blend of media and sports experience eventually paved his way to FERWAFA, where he has made notable contributions.
Throughout his career, Bonnie has held various prestigious roles, including serving as FERWAFA’s Spokesperson and managing media-related responsibilities for CECAFA and CAF, showcasing his versatility and leadership in football’s administrative landscape.
Adding to his impressive portfolio, Bonnie earned a degree in Football Leadership and Management from the University of Leicester in the UK. The program, organized in collaboration between CIES and FIFA, equipped him with profound insights into global football governance and leadership strategies.
