On Thursday morning, AS Kigali, the urban-based football powerhouse, kicked off their training sessions at Kigali Pele Pele Stadium in preparation for the 2023/24 season. The opening session featured an impressive lineup of 16 players, including key talents Elia Kategaya, Dushimimana Olivier 'Muzungu,' and Mugiraneza Froduard, all loaned from APR FC.
According to the team’s secretary, Nshimiye Joseph, these critical additions have been loaned by APR FC for one year. He highlighted that, under ideal conditions, the team would have secured more than three players on loan, accentuating the importance of these agreements in strengthening their squad.
AS Kigali’s training follows a strategic meeting with the Kigali city administration, their primary sponsor and partner. This meeting focused on resolving lingering issues from last season, such as settling debts owed to players, ensuring the club is positioned for a better outcome in the upcoming season. Last year, AS Kigali finished in an admirable 3rd place in the championship, concluding the season with 49 points.
AS Kigali has officially embarked on their preparations for a promising and competitive football season ahead.
