Sudan's Al Hilal Omdurman arrived in Rwanda on the 31st of last month after requesting to participate in Rwanda's league alongside Al Merreikh, a request that was officially approved. Upon their arrival, they were greeted with great warmth by Sudanese nationals living in Rwanda as well as by the Rwandan community, highlighting Rwanda's longstanding reputation for hospitality.
In appreciation of the warm welcome, Al Hilal Omdurman shared a photo of President Kagame, using it to express their gratitude for the hospitality they’ve experienced in the country.
They remarked: “From the moment we arrived in Rwanda, we were warmly welcomed by the Rwandan people—the brothers and sisters, the intelligent and innovative citizens who have given the world a unique example of progress worth studying and documenting in history books.”
As they prepare for the upcoming match, Al Hilal Omdurman has called for continued support from the Rwandan community. The team is gearing up for their clash against MC Alger, scheduled for Friday at 3 PM at Amahoro Stadium. This will be the first group-stage match of the CAF Champions League.
The club emphasized in a statement: “We are looking forward to completing this beautiful image of the great Rwandan community on Friday evening at Amahoro Stadium by cheering us during the match between Al Hilal and MC Alger in the first group match of the CAF Champions League.”
Al Hilal has been granted permission to host all their CAF Champions League group-stage matches at Amahoro Stadium. The team will also participate in the Rwandan league, a decision made due to the security challenges they currently face in Sudan.

Al Hilal publicly expressed their gratitude to Rwandans for their hospitality and encouraged them to continue offering support during their games.
