Abakorerayesu Choir Breathes New Life into Classic Worship Anthem ‘Aritamurura’ - VIDEO

Abakorerayesu Choir celebrates 33 years of ministry with a modern revival of "Aritamurura," blending powerful vocals, Swahili infusions, and deeper emotions to inspire hearts globally.

Dominic Ashimwe, a renowned gospel singer praised for hits like "Ashimwe," "Nemerewe Kwinjira," and "Ntihinduka," has expressed profound admiration for the updated rendition of "Aritamurura." Taking to social media, he shared, "Let hearts filled with fear find calm, let hearts that feel stuck find freedom. In the morning, He will intervene. Amen!"

Originally written by Joyeuse, "Aritamurura" has been revitalized with cutting-edge production by leading worship music experts. Nicholas expertly handled vocal editing and mixing, while Musinga directed the video with precision, later refined by Eddy Cuts. During recording sessions, Josue Shimwa, the founder of New Melody Industries, provided vocal training for the Abakorerayesu Choir members. Additional contributions came from sound engineers David and S-Janvier, ensuring excellence in audio quality.

Mamille Mukangemanyi, the lead of Abakorerayesu Choir, revealed to InyaRwanda the reason behind the relaunch. "'Aritamurura' continues to resonate deeply with audiences, making a live-recording update essential to match the expectations of modern listeners."

She pointed out enhancements like heavier, well-arranged instrumentation and Swahili elements that broaden accessibility. Mamille further shared, "The singers have reached an emotional depth unmatched by previous versions."

The song carries an uplifting message: "It celebrates the victory of Jesus Christ, providing comfort and the assurance of His mighty power to intervene in lives."

Discussing the choir's aspirations, Mamille passionately stated, "Our ultimate goal is for the Gospel of Christ, delivered through our songs, to touch people worldwide, leading them from sin to righteousness."

Recently, the choir released a music video for "Aritamurura," following their earlier release of "Njye nzi neza" ("I Know Well") on September 18, 2025. This contemporary piece reassures listeners that "regardless of wealth or status, we will all someday be transformed to be like Christ."

Founded in 1992, Abakorerayesu Choir boasts over three decades of sharing the Gospel through music. The choir has created more than 100 songs, including timeless classics like "Nshingiye," "Yamfashe ukuboko," "Uko biri kose," "Dawidi," "Inyenyeli," "Uri Imana y’icyubahiro," and "Aritamurura."

The choir has faced obstacles but always persevered. Mamille reminisced, "During outreach in Eastern Rwanda, we endured tough conditions, spending days on the road as vehicles broke down. Despite challenges, God empowered us to bring 80 people to salvation during that time. It was a victory guided by Christ's intervention." She added, "Although spiritual battles challenged us, Jesus remained triumphant."

Abakorerayesu Choir has performed extensively across Rwanda and internationally. In 2015, they ministered in Tanzania, delivering a powerful three-day outreach at the invitation of the Pentecostal Church. The event proved remarkably fruitful.

The choir shared, "Many lives were transformed—people abandoned their sins to embrace Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Others found inner peace and strength. Some attendees even took baptismal vows, and a few are now influential evangelists."

The choir's commitment extends beyond music, actively engaging in charitable works inspired by Matthew 25:35. The verse reads, "For I was hungry, and you gave me food; I was thirsty, and you gave me drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in." Through acts of kindness, Abakorerayesu Choir brings their gospel message to life.
