The Nyakinama Military Academy in Musanze District recently concluded a 22-week training program, culminating in a graduation ceremony held on Friday. The event was presided over by Maj Gen Vincent Nyakarundi, the Chief of the Rwanda Defence Forces’ Land Forces.
This comprehensive program equipped the 75 graduating officers with essential knowledge, practical expertise, and leadership capabilities, enabling them to effectively respond to evolving security challenges. The training also refined their strategic thinking and management skills.
Speaking on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff, Maj Gen Vincent Nyakarundi commended the graduates, stating, “The lessons you have learned have prepared you to become capable leaders. You are now ready to provide solutions, address emerging challenges, and introduce fresh perspectives and energy into the military.”
Emphasizing the importance of readiness, he added, “We must work together to build an army and a nation grounded in integrity, accountability, and steadfast service to our country.”
“Critical and strategic thinking will be your tools to capitalize on opportunities and combat emerging security issues across various regions,” Maj Gen Nyakarundi further advised.
He also reminded the officers of their ongoing responsibilities to foster positive change while upholding core values like patriotism, professionalism, and dedication, especially in today’s complex global security environment.
Brig Gen Andrew Nyamvumba, the Commandant of Nyakinama Military Academy, praised the graduates for their dedication, discipline, and teamwork during the program. He urged them to carry this exemplary spirit into their future assignments.
“Maintain the hard work, professionalism, and discipline you have demonstrated throughout your training. They are critical for your upcoming responsibilities and continued success,” Brig Gen Nyamvumba encouraged.
The ceremony was attended by top officials, including senior officers of the Rwanda Defence Forces and Rwanda National Police, alongside family members, friends, religious leaders, and local government officials from the Northern Province.
Seventy-five officers completed the leadership training program at the Nyakinama Military Academy.
