Starting this Saturday, July 19, through Sunday, July 20, the iconic Petit Stade in Remera will come alive with the Kigali Street Festival, an exciting event packed with basketball tournaments, vibrant dance competitions, freestyle rap battles, live graffiti showcases, and thrilling DJ contests.
Kamatali Murenzi, widely recognized as “MC Murenzi” in the entertainment scene, spearheads the festival through his company, UNIK MM Innovation. Known for its dynamic event planning, UNIK MM Innovation aims to transform school holiday downtime into a fun-filled experience for youth, offering not just entertainment but meaningful job opportunities.
MC Murenzi emphasized that the festival creates a safe, recreational space where young people can steer clear of harmful habits such as drug abuse. Beyond entertainment, it serves as a platform to nurture and showcase their talents while encouraging them to use their skillsets for personal growth and long-term success.
The basketball tournament will feature diverse formats, including exciting 3-on-3 matchups (Basketball 3×3), intense one-on-one games (Basketball 1×1), electrifying dunk challenges, and competitive three-point throw contests. Out of 16 registered teams, only eight have advanced to the tournament. Teams must score 21 points to move forward, while players committing three fouls will lead to their team’s elimination.
Another festival highlight is the Freestyle Rap Battle, where contestants create performances based on a specific musical genre or beat in a head-to-head competition. The winner receives professional music production for their song, an opportunity to amplify their artistry.
The Dance Competition has already attracted 20 vibrant teams ready to light up the basketball court with their moves. To add to the excitement, renowned local artists, including Bull-Dog, Bushali, Angell Mutoni, and B-Trey, will deliver unforgettable live performances to keep the audience entertained.
Ticket costs are affordable, with general entry priced at 5,000 RWF and VIP tickets closer to the court available for 15,000 RWF, if purchased in advance. For on-site ticket buyers, prices jump to 8,000 RWF for regular access and 20,000 RWF for premium courtside seating. Secure your spot early for the best experience!
