On Sunday, January 11, 2026, Al Hilal SC humiliated the Nyamagabe-based club in a rescheduled match for the 15th round of the 2025/2026 Rwanda Premier League season.
The goals came from Adama Coulibaly, who scored four, Jean Claude Gorumugisha with two, Ousman Diouf with one, and Emmanuel Flomo with one.
Following the heavy loss, coach Niyongabo Amars and his assistants—except for Pablo Nduwimana—were relieved of their duties. The Burundian coach had joined Amagaju FC in the second division and helped the team secure promotion in 2023.
Amagaju FC has struggled this season, failing to win any of their last six matches. Currently, the club sits 17th in the league with 12 points and a goal deficit of 16.
