This Friday, Tunisian coach Afhamia Lotfi and his assistant Mohamed Chelli made their arrival at Kanombe International Airport, marking the start of an exciting new chapter for Rayon Sports. Speaking about his fellow countryman, Lotfi outlined Chelli's impressive career and the anticipated impact on the team.
Lotfi shared, "He played in Tunisia's top-tier league with Kerkena and showcased great talent during his career. We trained together in coaching, and he has a deep background as a player. I trust his expertise and believe he will bring significant value to Rayon Sports. I am confident he will make a difference in the team's performance."
Clarifying their relationship, Lotfi addressed speculations by confirming they are not relatives despite their similar names. The two signed a two-year contract with Rayon Sports on the same day, solidifying their dedication to the club. Lotfi emphasized Chelli’s contributions, stating, "Chelli Mohamed is an exceptionally skilled player. Although he's not widely known in Tunisia, I observed his games closely this past year. He delivered outstanding performances, and my research leads me to believe he will stand out in the Rwandan league."
Mohamed Chelli, who previously played for Aceano de Kerkennah in Tunisia's second division, joins Rayon Sports directly without undergoing tryouts. Nonetheless, Lotfi hinted at more incoming talent for the team through tryouts.
Currently, Rayon Sports has officially signed Musore Prince. Rumors suggest more additions to the roster, including Rushema Chris and Ntarindwa Aimable, who recently finished their contracts with Mukura VS.
An intriguing development involves Algerian player Rayane Hamouimeche, who has arrived in Rwanda. Unlike Chelli, Hamouimeche is set to go through tryouts before potential inclusion in the team.
Rayon Sports is gearing up for preseason training, which starts on Monday, August 30, 2025, at Nzove stadium.
