Ruhumuriza James, known by his stage name King James, announced back in 2022 that he was planning a concert in Rusizi. However, the event never materialized that year.
Fast forward to June 2025, when King James was revealed as a headline artist for the MTN Iwacu Muzika Festival. He enthusiastically shared with InyaRwanda his excitement about performing across multiple districts, with Rusizi being a dream destination he had long hoped to reach.
He stated, “Performing in Rusizi will be incredible. I’ll request ample time to connect deeply with the audience and sing with them because this moment has been years in the making. I want enough time to make it truly special.”
Unfortunately, this anticipated performance in Rusizi has been postponed yet again.
On Monday, August 4, 2025, East African Promoters Ltd issued an official announcement, stating that the MTN Iwacu Muzika Festival event originally scheduled to happen on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Rusizi Stadium had been relocated to Muhanga Stadium.
The change was made due to ongoing construction work at Rusizi Stadium, making it unsuitable for hosting such a large-scale event. As a result, Muhanga Stadium was selected for its ability to ensure safety, comfort, and infrastructure capable of accommodating a large crowd.
Organizers emphasized in their statement: “This adjustment prioritizes accessibility for attendees and supports the festival's commitment to offering outstanding experiences in security, entertainment, and comfort — hallmarks of MTN Iwacu Muzika Festival.”
East African Promoters extended their apologies to fans and stakeholders for the inconveniences caused by this change. They also appreciated the continued patience and support that has made this festival a cornerstone of Rwanda’s music scene.
Despite this setback, King James will still showcase his talent at the MTN Iwacu Muzika Festival. He will perform alongside celebrated artists, including Riderman, Ariel Wayz, Juno Kizigenza, Bull Dogg, Nel Ngabo, and Kivumbi King.
Muhanga Stadium will host the festival on Saturday, August 9, 2025 — an opportunity to unite people in a vibrant celebration of music, culture, and joy, as aligned with the festival’s objectives.
King James previously shared with InyaRwanda his vision of dedicating ample time for a performance in Rusizi. While this dream was interrupted, fans remain eager to experience his musical artistry.
