In an interview with InyaRwanda, Tracy said that observing how Bahavu built her career in the film industry taught her many lessons, especially about how one can pursue what they love and turn their training into something productive.
She said: "I looked at myself and said that no child is born to remain in their mother’s hands forever. I told myself, ‘I must also do something so that the person who helped me grow and become known can see that she also benefited from me, my elder sister.’"
Tracy explained that closely following Bahavu’s path gave her the confidence to train herself further, dare to start her own film projects, and clearly understand what she wanted to achieve in the cinema industry.
"I learned a lot from her. I observed her closely and said to myself, ‘I must also make films.’ And because it was something I loved and truly wanted, I felt it would not require too much effort. Often, it is the things we do not love that we find difficult," she said.
Tracy added that the idea of writing her own films came from her personal commitment to do something meaningful and impactful. She recalled how she wrote the script for her first film while sitting alone in her room.
She said: "The first time I tried to write a film, I sat in my room and asked myself, ‘If I keep acting in films only, where will that lead me?’ What is interesting is that I had never seen my sister writing films. I never imagined that I could one day write a film myself, because I thought I would do something else, not writing."
However, Tracy decided to pick up a notebook and a pen and write down her idea, then presented it to Bahavu. At that moment, Bahavu praised her warmly and encouraged her to continue, an act that Tracy says became a major turning point in her cinema journey.
She continued: "I took my notebook and pen, wrote everything down, then showed it to her and said, ‘Look at what I wrote, do you think this can work?’ When she read it, she was very happy and told me, ‘Go on, continue.’ She is a kind person, she helped me a lot, and I am very grateful to her."
The talented actress assured her fans that Tracy Films will continue to produce high-quality works that showcase real talent, carry strong messages, and help promote young actors and those who wish to join the film industry.
In conclusion, Tracy said that her journey is gradually becoming an inspiration to others, just as Bahavu once inspired her. She added that she plans to continue growing and creating films with a unique identity and meaningful messages for both readers and viewers of her work.
