Gen-Z Comedy Night, held on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village (Camp Kigali), became the center of discussion after prominent comedians expressed frustration over stage management issues. Their expectations were left unmet, affecting their performances for eagerly waiting fans.
Just after stepping off the stage, Bennoview told the press, “Do I look happy? The plans I had prepared were not presented to Rwandans as intended. From the outfits and stage design to the motto, everything was meticulously planned. We are not like those who fail to put in the effort.”
Bennoview strongly criticized the mismanagement of stage equipment and lighting, particularly for his colleague Mitsutsu, whom he referred to as his boss. “Turning off my boss’s equipment is a serious mistake. Imagine cutting off his lights when you’re the one who invited him! Such errors must stop in Rwanda. If you’re hosting someone, ensure you ask them about their needs—how many people they’re bringing and how much time they’ll require to perform.”
Speaking further, Bennoview remarked that their invitation was for a group performance and he urged better event planning in the future, saying, “Fally Merci, I don’t dislike what you do, but next time, work on better management.”
For his part, Mitsutsu responded, noting that despite the technical glitches, they were somewhat understandable due to the late hour. “There was an issue, and you all saw it. Microphones going off because of the time is normal. I can understand because of how late it was, though it’s unusual for a mic to shut off while others continue working.”
Mitsutsu expressed gratitude for his first-time invitation to Gen-Z Comedy and his excitement to showcase his talent to the audience.
“It didn’t discourage me. I will stay on this comedy journey and may even reach international performances. I have no issues with Fally Merci, and I look forward to collaborating further,” he stated.
Mitsutsu shared plans to continue developing entertaining projects for his fans in the coming days and emphasized the importance of providing artists and comedians clear schedules before events.
Mitsutsu, debuting at Gen-Z Comedy, delivered an enthusiastic performance dedicated to entertaining the crowd.
Moment of joy: Mitsutsu filled the venue with laughter, delighting a large audience that gathered at Camp Kigali.
Bennoview, visibly disappointed after being taken off stage prematurely, shared his concerns with the media afterward.
On stage collaboration: Mitsutsu performed alongside others, including Mugande, known for their roles in various films.
