For the first time ever, Rwandan artists Cyusa Ibrahim, Alouette, Mpano Layan, and the celebrated traditional troupe Itorero Indashyikirwa will share the same stage at a cultural event. Each of these prominent figures has earned recognition in traditional Rwandan music, but this groundbreaking event will bring them together for a historic collaboration, celebrating Rwandan music deeply rooted in culture.

Cyusa Ibrahim's Excitement
Renowned Rwandan artist Cyusa Ibrahim expressed his delight in participating in the Umuganura 2025 event. He plans to captivate the audience with favorites such as "Imparamba" and "Marebe", as well as other cherished songs. Cyusa highlighted his enthusiasm for performing alongside Alouette, a fellow artist with whom he regularly shares the stage at weddings and events.

“Umuganura is an exceptional day in Rwandan culture. It symbolizes unity and heritage,” Cyusa explained. “I aim to bring joy through melodies that resonate with Rwandans, reminding them of their cultural identity.”

Alouette and Mpano Layan’s Role
Alouette, admired for her songs embracing cultural themes and profound messages, will also perform at this monumental event. Similarly, Mpano Layan, an emerging artist committed to preserving Rwanda’s cultural legacy through music, is part of the exceptional lineup.

Itorero Indashyikirwa’s Contribution
The iconic troupe Indashyikirwa, celebrated for masterful traditional dance and storytelling, will embody the spirit of Umuganura through evocative performances including chants, vibrant dances, and depictions of ancient Rwandan traditions. Their presence promises to highlight Rwanda’s rich cultural history.

2025 Umuganura Celebration Details
Umuganura 2025 is scheduled for Friday, August 1, and will follow the theme: "Umuganura, the Source of Unity and Foundation for Self-reliance."

Celebrations will be held on various levels, with the national festivities occurring in Musanze District, located in the Northern Province. The Rwanda Academy of Culture shared that each province or district, apart from the national-level hosts, will organize local events aligned with the overarching theme.

Rwandans living abroad will also celebrate Umuganura 2025 on a convenient date in August, seizing the opportunity for cultural engagement among Rwandan expatriates and locals in their countries of residence. Additionally, private sector players are encouraged to showcase Umuganura through initiatives promoting cultural tourism.
