The groundbreaking event, "Beyond the Stage," took place on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the VIP Lounge of Amahoro Stadium in Remera. Hosted by SEEV AFRICA in collaboration with Intore Entertainment, KONTENT, and MTN Rwanda, the event highlighted gender inclusivity and transformation within Africa’s entertainment sector.
This vibrant gathering preceded the Giants of Africa Festival’s grand finale on Saturday night, attracting artists, creatives, business professionals, and development experts across East Africa. It served as a unique platform to celebrate talents and foster connections.
Participants enjoyed networking over a meal before diving into a dynamic Fire-side chat, skillfully moderated by Mary Maina, the visionary leader of KONTENT. This discussion spotlighted Etania Mutoni's inspiring journey in entertainment, offering key insights to female and aspiring artists determined to overcome obstacles and chase their dreams fiercely.
The program strongly aligned with Rwanda's national objectives of promoting gender equality and advancing inclusivity within the entertainment industry.
Young professionals and women from diverse backgrounds were united at this forum, all aspiring to make notable contributions to Africa’s creative scene.
Etania Mutoni, a trailblazing female artist, stood as a living example that young girls can achieve their ambitions by utilizing their talents. Her success story resonated with attendees and became a source of optimism.
“Being here in Kigali means so much to me. I understand how tough it is to start without sponsors or a solid support system. But persistence pays. Trust your skills, stay determined, and surmount challenges,” she remarked.
Despite Rwanda’s renowned gender equality policies, the creative industry still faces limitations such as insufficient resources, limited mentorship, scarce international opportunities, and deeply ingrained gender biases.
Industry Leaders Advocate Empowerment
Paul Atwine, CEO of SEEV AFRICA, elaborated: “Beyond the Stage offers Rwandan artists the valuable opportunity to gain expertise and connect with global professionals. Our ultimate vision is to foster enduring connections between artists and businesses, enhance investments in entertainment, and cement gender inclusivity.”
Mary Maina of KONTENT further emphasized, “This initiative transcends mere entertainment—it’s a catalyst for impactful change. Youth brimming with talent need clear pathways to thrive. Having Etania speak here has inspired lasting hope. Our goal is to continue bringing sensations from around the globe for enriching discussions and progress-oriented strategies.”
Building Momentum for Transformation
This event marked the second edition of discussions centered on transforming Africa’s creative economy through collaboration. The inaugural event held in December 2024 featured outstanding artists Ruger and Victony, making strides in fostering inclusive conversations.
Plans for December 2025 promise even greater highlights, with globally renowned artists poised to inspire Kigali audiences with performances and interactions dedicated to youth development.
"Beyond the Stage: A Creative Café with Etania" was spearheaded by SEEV AFRICA, Intore Entertainment, and KONTENT. Key contributors included the Ministry of Sports, Rwanda Convention Bureau, MTN Rwanda, MPost Rwanda, and Big Sounds AV Solutions Ltd.
