The concert took place on the night of Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at BK Arena. The First Lady was accompanied by renowned East African singer Khadja Nin at the event, which was organized by Global Citizen under the Move Afrika2026 series.
This marked the third edition of the Move Afrika concert in Rwanda, following performances by Kendrick Lamar in 2024 and John Legend in 2025.
The CEO and founder of Global Citizen, Hugh Evans, expressed his excitement about being in Rwanda, praising the country’s leadership and hospitality.
“There’s no better place I could imagine than Kigali. In the first year we had Kendrick Lamar, in the second year John Legend, and today we have Doja Cat. I would like to thank President Kagame and the Rwanda Development Board for their partnership,” he said.
The show kicked off with an electrifying performance by DJ Ira, who energized the crowd with a mix of Rwandan hits and global chart-toppers.
Doja Cat later took the stage accompanied by a live band and backing vocalists, delivering a thrilling performance of her popular songs, including “Paint the Town Red,” which excited fans who had eagerly awaited the concert.
At the end of the show, Doja Cat expressed her appreciation to the audience, describing her first-ever performance in Africa as a unique and unforgettable experience, and thanked fans for their overwhelming support.
Following her Kigali performance, she headed to South Africa, where she is scheduled to perform at SunBet Arena on March 20, 2026, as part of her global tour, Tour Ma Vie World Tour.
This concert further cemented Rwanda’s growing reputation as a hub for international entertainment, highlighting the country’s commitment to promoting arts and culture on a global stage.
Doja Cat has steadily built an impressive international career since beginning as an independent artist in 2014. Her global breakthrough came in 2019 with the hit song “Say So,” from her album Hot Pink, which earned her a Grammy Awardsand propelled her to worldwide fame.
