Shaffy’s Path to Unity: Collaborating for Music That Resonates Across Rwanda

Rwandan artist Shaffy unveils how teamwork with Rumaga Junior, Element, and Christopher creates music that deeply connects with all Rwandan audiences.

Shaffy, a rising star in the Rwandan music scene, is making waves beyond the country’s borders. He recently revealed how his collaborations with other talented individuals allow him to produce music that represents the society that listens to his creations.

In an exclusive interview with InyaRwanda, Shaffy shared these insights after releasing the much-anticipated video for his latest single, "Sèrela," on Friday, September 19, 2025.

Shaffy explained: Each of his collaborators plays a crucial role in enhancing his songs to connect with Rwandans effectively. Their contributions come together with the shared objective of impactful storytelling through music.

He stated: "The reason I enjoy working with these people is that each one adds something special to the message we're aiming to share with Rwandans. Rumaga complements me with profound Kinyarwanda, Element crafts relatable language for the youth, and Christopher ties it all together artistically to ensure it reaches everyone."

The artist likened their collaborative songwriting sessions to the unity and diversity of a legislative assembly, symbolizing inclusivity and representation.

He remarked: "It's a remarkable team. I liken it to a parliament because every Rwandan feels represented in the songwriting process."

Shaffy is quick to highlight how Rumaga Junior’s mastery of Kinyarwanda ensures his lyrics are deep, meaningful, and rich in cultural essence.

Element's contributions bridge the gap to younger audiences, particularly the Gen-Z generation, crafting lyrics that integrate seamlessly into their daily experiences.

Meanwhile, Christopher is credited for balancing all contributions, focusing on artistic cohesion to refine the message in the song, ensuring it resonates with audiences of all backgrounds.

Since his emergence as an independent artist five years ago, Shaffy has consistently collaborated with Rumaga, Element, and Christopher, producing music that has captivated fans and proven to be the right creative path.

The artist, renowned for hits like "Akabanga," says his collaboration with this dynamic team has helped him release high-quality, impactful music that touches all segments of Rwandan society.
