Miss Naomie Earns First International Literary Award with More Than a Crown

Miss Rwanda 2020, Nishimwe Naomie, has expressed immense joy after winning her first international literary award at the prestigious “Ebobea Book Awards 2026,” thanks to her book titled More Than a Crown.

The Ebobea Book Awards are held annually to recognize authors and literary works that have made a significant contribution to promoting reading culture, writing, and the sharing of impactful ideas on a global scale.

Naomie emerged as one of the event’s biggest winners, taking home awards in three major categories: Best Book, Best Author, and Most Inspiring Author, a remarkable achievement that further establishes her presence in the literary world.

In a message shared on her Instagram page on Thursday, May 28, 2026, Nishimwe Naomie celebrated the milestone and thanked everyone who supported her throughout the competition.

She emphasized that the victory was not hers alone but belonged to everyone who voted for her, encouraged others to support her, and stood by her throughout the journey.

“Look at how far we have come! As you can see, we won the EBOBea Book Award 2026! Honestly, this happened because of all of you who voted for me, supported me, shared the voting information, and even encouraged your friends and family members to vote for me,” she wrote.

Naomie added that she always believed her supporters would stand with her until the end, which is why she remains deeply grateful for their unwavering encouragement. “I knew you would not leave me alone on this journey, and I am sincerely grateful to all of you.”

In an emotional message, she also thanked God, her publishing team at Imagine We Publisher, her friends, and her family for their support.

“First and foremost, I thank God because this is truly a great achievement. I am grateful to everyone who supported me, including Imagine We Publisher, my friends, and my family. But above all, I thank all of you who believed in me and supported me. This victory belongs to all of us, and it is only the beginning of many more successes to come.”

The Ebobea Book Awards are known for honoring authors with prestigious trophies that recognize their contribution to literature and the promotion of writing culture. Finalists and winners also receive special recognition that highlights their achievements and growth as writers.

Naomie’s success continues to demonstrate how Rwandan talent is gaining recognition on the international stage, not only in literature but across various creative industries.

More Than a Crown: A Story Beyond Beauty Pageants

According to Naomie, More Than a Crown is not simply a book about her experience as Miss Rwanda. Rather, it is a deeply personal account of her life, emotions, struggles, and healing journey.

The book explores themes of pain, resilience, self-discovery, faith, and personal growth. It offers readers an honest look into the challenges she faced behind the public image that many people knew.

Through its pages, Naomie reveals that winning the Miss Rwanda crown alone was not enough to make her feel complete. Like many others, she had to navigate personal battles, overcome hardships, and rebuild herself along the way.

The title More Than a Crown reflects the central message of the book: that there is a deeper life and purpose beyond titles, recognition, and public success. It is a story of finding identity, strength, and meaning beyond the crown itself.
