Kassav', the trailblazing Zouk band active since 1979, is set to electrify audiences during the 20th annual Gorilla Naming Ceremony. Taking place in Kinigi this Friday, September 5, 2025, the event promises fun and inspiration as it celebrates biodiversity conservation efforts.

This celebrated group is no stranger to Rwanda. They last captivated fans in Kigali during a smashing Valentine’s Day concert in 2020 at the Kigali Convention Center, where they delighted audiences alongside local star Christopher.

Due to overwhelming demand at the time, Kassav' hosted two consecutive shows. The first concert on February 15, 2020, earned the attendance of First Lady Jeannette Kagame, while the second concert on February 16, 2020, accommodated those who missed out earlier due to packed venues.

Now, music enthusiasts in Rwanda have the golden opportunity to indulge in another lively session with Kassav', hailed globally for their instrumental role in popularizing the Zouk genre.

Originating in Paris, France, Kassav' was founded in November 1979 and glows with legendary members such as Jean-Philippe Marthély, Jacob Desvarieux, Jocelyne Béroard, Pierre-Edouard Décimus, Jean-Claude Naimro, Fredéric Caracas, and Claude Vamur.

Upcoming hits and timeless classics: Kassav's track "Ou Le" has racked up thousands of views on YouTube, joining the legacy of hits like "Kolé Séré," which reached 6 million views, “Rété” with 2 million views, and other audience-cherished songs including "Sye bwa," "Solei," "Sé dam bonjou," and "Wép wép."
